The condition in our collection listing specifies if the pez dispenser is still
in its original packaging, either on a blister card or in a cello bag. Certain pez
dispensers can be found on limited or special edition blister cards.
The patent number found on a pez dispenser's stem gives an approximate dating
of the dispenser, as the lower patent numbers were originally issued earlier
and therefore are usually more rare. The current patent number is #5.9 issued
in 2002.
Feet were first introduced onto the stems of pez dispensers in 1987 for two
reasons, to help the pez stand upright for display purposes, and to prevent
them from rolling around on the conveyor belts in the factory (the same reason
the thumb tabs were added to the back of many heads). No pez made prior to 1987
had feet, after 1987 most all pez produced have feet on them but there are
some notable exceptions, such as the retro mint regulars, trucks, limited
edition psychadelic remakes, and any of the hearts.
